Kumusta! Ako si Joanna Kirby.
Picture
Growing up in the Philippines, Joanna spoke four languages. After moving to the U.S., she mastered the American English language and accent. Needless to say, language learning played an integral part in her upbringing and cultural awareness. She received her undergraduate degree in Japanese, taught English in Tokyo, studied linguistics at UCLA, and went on to receive her law degree in New York City. She speaks English, Tagalog, Kapampangan and Japanese. As such, she has figured out the best way that she has learned, as well as various ways different people effectively acquire and retain second languages. She applies all of the systems she has studied and observed to create her unique approach to teaching.
